The Goodfellas, starring Al Pacino, Robert Duvall, and Robert De Niro, is a cult classic. It is certainly the greatest film in the James Caan-Ray Liotta trilogy. The film is the tale of American mobsters, which tells the story of how they got to where they are today. In this movie, De Niro portrays Don Vito Corleone, while Liotta portrays Sonny Barger.
The Goodfellas is an important movie because it deals with many themes including crime, violence, greed, and the entire underworld and the American system. The movie also revolves around a film director named Anthony "Fat Tony" Salerno. Salerno was the son of a man who worked for the De Cianis family who took over the family business after a murder.
The Goodfellas is also about two brothers, Tony (Al Pacino) and Michael (Robert Duvall), who grew up in the New York Mafia. The movie begins when their father, Fred (James Caan), hires them as hit men. However, their "bosses" don't agree that they should become killers, so they leave the company. After leaving the company, they come back home and go on a killing spree at the casinos of Atlantic City.
They get their first opportunity after beating the mafia boss, Fat Tony (Robert Duvall). As a reward, they are now the top mafia in Atlantic City. However, while they are enjoying their success, a person named Raymond Cruz (Robert De Niro) is killed by the Bad Girlfriends. Since then, the members of the mafia try to kill each other, until one man, Johnny Boy (Robert Duvall) emerges.
Johnny Boy picks up the pieces of the broken empire and tries to come up with a strategy to save the family from ruin. During the course of the movie, he picks up three new gangsters: a Dominican boy (Pedro Pascal), a boxer (Ray Liotta), and a Russian-speaking boy (Tony Shalhoub). Together, they come up with a plan to take over the city's casinos.
The film tells the story of two very similar but different men, who use violence and crime to achieve their aims. Although the characters of the film resemble each other, both men have their own personalities. This is evident in the way they speak and their reactions to certain events.
The plot is also similar with some similarities between them in the sense that they are both driven by revenge. Both men also go out to find justice. Also, both men know how to act in order to reach their objectives. They make decisions based on, which will help them achieve their goals.
In conclusion, the film is definitely worth watching. Although the Goodfellas is one of the most famous mafia movies of all time, it is not the most accurate portrayal of the mafia. A lesser known mafia film, The Godfather, better depicts the mafia as it really is. The film is one of the most well-known and highly acclaimed mafia films of all time.
