I watched The Wrong Girl last night and it was a pretty good flick. However, it's also a far cry from the great movie that I remember watching as a child. What I'm going to do is give a quick synopsis of the story and then get right into the reasons why it's not as good as the earlier one.
The Wrong Girl is the second film in the spin-off series of Twilight. It follows the same general format that the first one did. That is, Bella is in love with her vampire boyfriend Edward Cullen and he has taken to sleeping with a human named Karrin Murphy. Edward also has feelings for Bella as well but they are not strong enough to carry their relationship. For the most part, the plot is just like the first movie; Bella's boyfriend is in love with another girl and then he sees Bella sleeping with another guy.
The Wrong Girl isn't all bad though. In fact, it actually is a pretty good movie. It's just that it isn't as good as the first one. I think the reason is that it lost a lot of the suspense that made the first movie so good.
The first movie in the Twilight Saga: Eclipse has a lot of great moments in it. The first two movies were very tense and suspenseful. Bella was in danger all the time and she and Edward had a lot of running around. In The Wrong Girl, however, Bella was relatively safe and there wasn't nearly as much action in it.
Part of the problem with this is that it's very predictable. In the first movie, we saw what happened when Edward wasn't looking. He was kissing Karrin and they weren't romantically involved. It seemed like he knew her way around, but that's because the writers made us thinkso. In The Wrong Girl, we never see them spending time together and we never see them kiss.
Of course, it's all played out in terms of what happened in the first Twilight movie, but this is a lot less interesting because you don't really get to see the correct human emotions. It's like seeing a young love scene from a girl's point of view where everything is different because of how much angst the writers have for the girl. You can't really read minds when you're a teenager, so it makes for a much more flat experience than what the first movie gave you.
But it is still great stuff. A lot of the vampire fans loved it and the new directors know their way around the vampire genre. That's something to keep an eye on.
Overall, The Wrong Girl is still a fun movie that's slightly better than the first movie. It's not as good as the first one, but it's still a pretty good flick.
